These little engineers are building a bridge with the big wooden blocks. The next step is to test it!
In the Math and Science center, the children had to pick out the blocks and lay them out in a line. They counted to me, touching each block. Making the one to one correspondence is important right now– so they have to touch each block as they say it’s number. At first, their fingers would still be on the 3rd or 4th block, but they’d already verbally reached 10. So we continued until the numbers they were saying out loud matched the object they were touching. Of course they built something with the blocks after counting! This is math in a 3K classroom.
